1/10 EP 4WD ROCK CRAWLER

ROCK FORCE 2.2 SUZUKI JIMNY

No.30984 Kit

□Available : 28 Nov 2008

Steeper the climb, the harder the push. This machine clears its way, section by section!
Following in the footsteps of real Rock Crawler design.

The center of the Rock Crawling universe is of course America. Rock crawler competitions are decided not on speed, but by clearing grueling rocky sections in the shortest time. The power and precision of these machines has entered the world of R/C as they face down seemingly unconquerable terrain and bring your adrenalin to the boil. Completely different to other off-road machines, competitive Rock Crawling is unique in itself and features mainly one-off designs in both full-size and R/C model machines. The Kyosho ROCK FORCE is set to break this mold by bringing its specially designed-for-competition construction to everyone. Featuring a unique worm geared drive system on front and rear axles, the Rock Force is ready to take on even the toughest challenges. Specially designed long-stroke suspension delivers plenty of other advantages so you can taste the exhilaration as your Rock Force 2.2 overcomes everything in it is path!

The low position of motor and battery contributes to the low center of gravity in a high-rigidity chassis specially designed for rock crawler performance.

4-link rear suspension delivers smooth movement and long stroke. 6 upper arm setting positions and 4 for the lower arm.

4-link front suspension with lateral rods uses the lower position of the battery to create a lower center of gravity. 6 upper arm setting positions and 5 for the lower arm.

Compact independent worm gear drives on both front and rear axles feature self-locking function and large gear reduction ratio for outstanding performance.

Outer tube with elastic hexagonal propeller shaft provide external protection to minimize power loss and protect the shaft if contact is made.

Wheels are mounted on 12mm hexagonal hubs. Includes tires with claw-like grip but is also compatible with many after-market tires as well for a wider range of driving characteristic.

  • Shaft driven 4WD chassis designed specifically for rock crawling.
  • Large capacity oil shocks are now included on the front and rear.
  • 6 mounting positions are available for front shocks and 12 for the rear.
  • Wide choice of gear ratio settings.
  • Features a 48-pitch first gear and also is compatible with many other gears.
  • An optional high-speed gear set (No.RFW002) is available for the worm gear unit.
  • Optional rear drive disconnect set (No.RFW001) provides the choice between lock, drive and free running when combined with a 3-channel R/C system. Experiment to find your best technique in controlling the chassis posture for pivot turning and clearing different types of course sections as well as stability coming down steep slopes.
< Why "2.2" is part of the name >
American regulations are determined by the wheel size of the machine. This Rock Force competes in the most popular 2.2-inch wheel class.

The 7 advantages of a worm gear transmission
Large gear reduction in compact space.
Worm gear design allows a large gear reduction ratio to be fitted into compact space that also delivers high strength and easy maintenance. The small number of moving gears also minimizes the potential for trouble and results in greater reliability.
High-cost special motors are not required.
The large gear reduction ratio works fine with the standard power motor with output of 20 to 27 turns. In addition to avoiding the high-cost of special motors, highly efficient and powerful torque delivers excellent low range control.

Self-locking function doesn't require special ESC.
No special ESC is required as the one-way drive transfer of the worm-gears prevents reverse rotation of the tires so the tires lock automatically when the throttle is released. This also provides powerful stopping effect on steep slopes and works well with standard speed controllers. A special rock-crawler ESC with a drag brake is not required.
Minimizes torque twist
Large gear reduction ratio on the axle side enables a transmission with smaller 1st gear reduction to be positioned directly behind the motor. Torque load on the propeller shaft is reduced and this allows torque twist (characterized by the tires floating up) to be minimized and traction to be maintained for decisive rock crawling performance.
Makes full use of suspension stroke.
The slight angle of the propeller shaft with the machine in a 1G state (resting on the ground at normal posture) allows plenty of extension for the suspension stroke. In addition, the minimal refraction angle of the universal joints produces higher drive efficiency and controls loss of drive power.
Reduces interference from contact
Propeller shafts can be offset on top of the front - rear axle units to provide greater ground clearance and therefore reduce the risk of contact with surface objects.
Ultra-tough worm gear unit
Tempered steel results in super-strong gears. Heavy-duty specifications have the durability to withstand severe kickbacks.
